🐒 Once upon a time…
On the bank of a big blue river stood a tall jamun tree, full of sweet purple fruits. A clever monkey lived happily in that tree, eating jamuns and swinging from branch to branch.
One sunny day, a crocodile swam up to the tree.
“Hello, Monkey! Those fruits look yummy. Can I try one?”
The kind monkey smiled and tossed a few jamuns down. The crocodile loved them and came back every day. Soon, the two became best friends. They talked for hours—about trees, rivers, clouds, and everything else in the jungle.
🐊 Trouble begins…
One day, the crocodile took some jamuns home to his wife.
She sniffed them and frowned.
“Who gave you these?” she asked.
“A monkey—my new friend!” said the crocodile.
The crocodile’s wife was not happy.
“If the monkey eats such sweet fruits every day, his heart must be the sweetest of all! I want to eat his heart!”
The crocodile was shocked.
“But he’s my friend!”
But the wife insisted. So, the crocodile sadly agreed to trick the monkey.
🚣 The Crocodile’s Plan
The next day, the crocodile came to the tree with a smile.
“Dear Monkey, would you like to visit my home across the river? My wife would love to meet you!”
The monkey was excited.
“But I can’t swim!”
“Hop on my back,” said the crocodile.
As they reached the middle of the river, the crocodile’s voice turned serious.
“I’m sorry, my friend. My wife wants to eat your heart. I had no choice.”
🧠 The Monkey’s Clever Escape
The monkey was shocked—but didn’t panic.
“Oh dear! You should have told me earlier!” said the monkey.
“Why?” asked the crocodile.
“Because I left my heart back in the tree!” said the monkey quickly. “If you take me back, I’ll bring it.”
The foolish crocodile believed him and swam back.
As soon as they reached the tree, the monkey leapt up to the top branch and shouted:
“You silly crocodile! You can’t take someone’s heart like that. You lost a good friend today.”
The crocodile felt ashamed and swam away quietly.
